Valentine’s Date Idea

Make Vegan Heart Shaped Treats for Your Pooch!

A Dig + V-dog collaboration written by Nicole Moore

Valentine’s Day is nearly here and coming up with date ideas can be overwhelming. Restaurants are booked, the movies will be busy, and the polar vortex has made even stepping outside a struggle. So this year, stay inside with your date, slip into something comfortable (a snuggie), and put on a romantic movie (we recommend “Must Love Dogs”).

But don’t forget about your furry friend! After all, they are the real love of your life. Show them how much you love them by making v-dog’s tasty, easy on the tummy heart-shaped treats.

This Vegan Pumpkin Dog Treat recipe only has four ingredients so you’ll look like a total pro in the kitchen and impress your date. Also if Fido isn’t too keen on your new boo, these treats can help win over their heart.

Preheat oven to 350º F.

Mash banana in a small bowl using a fork until no clumps remain.

Add pumpkin puree to mashed banana and mix to combine.

In a separate bowl, combine oats and ground flaxseeds. Gently mix to combine.

Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and stir to combine.

Line baking tray with parchment paper.

Form tablespoon-sized balls by rolling between palms and then press between fingers to flatten into a heart shape.

Bake 10-12 minutes.

Yields about 15 treats

1 whole banana (ripe)

1/2 cup pumpkin puree

1 cup gluten-free oats

1 heaping Tbsp ground flaxseed
